Can you play Torrey Pines? How much does it cost?

There are two golf courses at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, and they’re both part of a municipal complex. It’s one of the few munis used by the PGA Tour and that means anyone can play it.

But for out-of-towners, it’ll put a dent in your wallet.

Torrey Pines has the North and the South courses and both are highly-ranked.

How much are tee times at Torrey Pines South?

For residents, the fee is $73 Monday through Thursday and $90 Friday through Sunday and holidays. Those prices are up from $71 and $88 in 2025.

For the non-residents, it’s quite a bit more. Tee times Monday through Thursday are $258. Friday through Sunday and holidays will run you $322. Those rates were $246 and $306 in 2025.

How much are tee times at Torrey Pines North?

For residents, the fee is $51 Monday through Thursday and $68 Friday through Sunday and holidays. Those prices are up from $50 and $66 in 2024.

For the non-residents, tee times Monday through Thursday are $163. Friday through Sunday and holidays will run you $204. Those rates are up from $155 and $194 in 2024.

What else do you have to pay to play Torrey Pines?

There is a $49 San Diego Golf Reservations Service Fee for those who use that service. In addition, there’s a $50 “booking and service” fee that is non-refundable for non-residents ($32 for residents). If you want a cart, that’s another $45. There are also rental clubs at each course for $75. Twilight rates are also an option and vary throughout the year. A golf cart will cost an additional $48.

The San Diego parks and recreation department reports that there’s a “limited number of advance times available each day, and times fill quickly. It’s recommended making reservations as soon as plans allow.” Also, there’s only a six-hour window to call, as the reservation staff is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT.

What else should I know about booking a tee time at Torrey Pines?

Another way to secure a tee time is to book a stay at either the Lodge at Torrey Pines or the Hilton Torrey Pines. The Lodge tends to be the more popular place to stay but both have an allotment of priority tee times for their guests.

Golfers can also try nabbing a walk-up time. Those go out on a first-come, first-serve basis during the first hour or so each day. Torrey Pines is closed to public play from Jan. 20 to Feb. 2 for the 2026 Farmers and is back open for public play on Feb. 3.
