Team Europe has the task of trying to take back the Solheim Cup this week in the Netherlands.
After being convincingly beaten at Robert Trent Jones in Virginia two years ago, ending an unbeaten streak of Solheim Cups, Anna Nordqvist’s side will look to get revenge on the United States at Bernardus.
Angela Stanford is the US captain this time around and will look to lean on her vast experience at the event, having played six times, to secure America’s first victory on away soil since 2015.
The format of the Solheim Cup is the same as the Ryder Cup. There is a foursomes session and a fourball session on each of the first two days, and then 12 singles matches on the final day.
As we have seen in both tournaments, pairing choices are crucial, and if a captain can find compatible partnerships, this can lead to vital points being earned towards victory.
As both captains on each side are having their first tilt in the hot seat, it will be intriguing to see which players are paired together, and which opposing pair they are drawn to face off within each session.
